Rule 20
Illness to be reported
(1) If it comes to the knowledge of any animal owner or local authority or any animal health worker or veterinarian involved in animal treatment that an animal has an infectious disease or is suspected of having such a disease, the notification must be given to the nearest animal service center or sub-center or animal service office.
(2) After receiving the information according to sub-rule (1), if there is reason to suspect that the disease mentioned in Schedule-10 is present during the investigation by the concerned technician, the head of the animal service office shall notify the veterinary officer designated by the department as well as the regional animal service directorate and the regional animal disease investigation laboratory. Notice should be given as soon as possible.
(3) After receiving the notification as per sub-rule (2), such veterinary officer shall conduct the necessary study in this regard and inform the department within 24 (twenty-four) hours. 4) If any animal dies during transportation, the owner or transporter of such animal should inform the nearest animal service center, sub-center, animal quarantine office, check post or district animal service office.
(5) After receiving the information according to sub-rule (4), the technician or the head of such body shall collect the necessary samples to confirm the cause of animal death and send it to the laboratory designated by the department for testing and shall have the dead animal destroyed after completing the procedure according to rule 18.
